This is a relief (bank) role, making it ideal for anyone with other commitments, looking to gain experience in the support sector, or wanting a role where they can make a real difference to people's lives.

As a Relief Scheme Support Officer, you'll be offered shifts across our services in Rhondda Cynon Taff and, if you're interested, opportunities may also be available in other areas. Managers will provide as much notice of available shifts as possible, although you may occasionally be contacted at short notice when urgent cover is required. As this is a relief position, hours cannot be guaranteed.

About Our Services

Our Supported Accommodation services provide short-term housing and support to people experiencing homelessness, many of whom have complex backgrounds, support needs, or life experiences.

The aim of our services is to help individuals develop the confidence, skills, and independence needed to move on to permanent accommodation and live successfully within their communities.

As a Scheme Support Officer, you will:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with customers.
  • Encourage engagement with support services, including mental health, substance misuse, and wellbeing services.
  • Motivate and empower people to achieve their goals.
  • Provide practical and emotional support to help individuals make positive changes in their lives.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment within the scheme.

Please note: This role does not involve personal care, administering medication, or carrying out clinical interventions.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work across a variety of services, meet different people, and gain valuable experience while helping some of the most vulnerable members of our communities build brighter futures.

Skills and Experience Needed 

  • A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible.
  • An enthusiasm and passion for supporting people to achieve the best outcomes that they can.
  • A strong ability to create relationships that are open and honest.
  • A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being an effective team player.
  • Ability to deal with conflicting and demanding situations.
